Cardio-Renal Cup Description
The Cardio Renal Cup is a CME driven by competition- launched in collaboration between the Egyptian Society of Cardiology (EgSC) and AstraZeneca , Through a 31 game competitions, it engages hospitals nationwide to advance medical knowledge and promote excellence in managing cardiorenal diseases. Also to strengthen multidisciplinary teamwork between cardiologists, nephrologists, and other healthcare professionals. -cardio renal cup will be conducted in two phases.
Phase 1 of the Cardio-Renal Cup program has been successfully completed. This initial phase consisted of three specialized educational webinars, each tailored to a distinct medical specialty: Cardiology, Nephrology, and Primary Care Physicians (PCPs). The sessions focused on the cardio-renal concept, emphasizing the critical interconnection between cardiovascular and renal health. Delivered through virtual platforms, the webinars facilitated wide participation and accessibility. The phase witnessed significant engagement, with over 450 physicians in attendance across the three sessions.
The implementation of Phase 1 was completed successfully in May 2025.
Phase 2 of the Cardio-Renal Cup Program Phase 2 of the Cardio-Renal Cup program will take the form of a nationwide hospital-based competition, inspired by football-style tournaments such as the Champions League.
The first 32 hospitals to complete their registration through the Egyptian Society of Cardiology (EgSC) website will qualify for participation.
EgSC will be fully responsible for managing both the registration process and the execution of the competition.
The competition will follow a knockout format with 31 matches involving a total of 62 judges each representing a collaborative effort between Cardiology and Nephrology departments.
Every hospital team must consist of 6 physicians:
- 2 Cardiologists
- 2 Nephrologists
- 2 Internal Medicine/Primary Care physicians
The competition aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and deepen understanding of the cardio-renal continuum in a dynamic and engaging way. The winning team’s hospital will receive a prestigious Centre of excellence
